Coach Calvin Gilbert.
Coach Gilbert was born and raised in one of Pennsylvannia’s revered basketball towns, Chester PA. He started coaching 11 years ago in the Chester Biddy league. Then in 2011, he moved on to starting a travel team called “S2N” (Second 2 None), a small team of Delaware County talent. S2N was later picked up by a Nike friendly team called “Team Rebel”, under the same umbrella as “Team Final”, the largest Nike organization in the area. In 2013 he joined “Team Final” with his own team and began traveling on the “Nike EYBL Circuit.”
At the same time, Calvin joined the Archbishop Carroll coaching staff in Radnor Pa. He began his high school coaching career as the JV Head Coach and in his 4 year tenure he had a record of 78-10.
The next step after Carroll was “Imhotep Charter”, a nationally ranked basketball powerhouse in Philadelphia. He went on to coach in the largest high school basketball tournaments in the country, winning a Public league and state championship.
He has directed and coached in camps all over the country including the Jameer Nelson Elite camp, the Tyreke Evans Elite camp, the Victor Oladipo Elite Camp and 76ers Camps and so many more. He has also conducted his own camps.
Calvin has had the pleasure of training two pros from his city…Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (Toronto Raptors) and Tyreke Evans.

Next Up Academy was started in a small shoe box like gym in Chester Pa called “The Wilson Center” in 2013.
“I was just a guy trying to share my knowledge of the game with some players from my city. When I moved on to coaching high school basketball, the Head Coach allowed me to execute the program at Archbishop Carroll.“
This program has alumni that are at the collegiate level as we speak and some with aspirations to be Pros.
